The Christmas season is upon us and I wanted to make something using mincemeat (made from fruit, nuts, spices and sugar). I thought why not make a samosa but small bite sized ones. Here's how I made these cute little mini mincemeat samosas.

Ingredients: Samosa Pastry: 1/2 cup plain flour (maida) 1 tsp melted ghee
Enough luke warm water to form a slightly soft dough
Samosa Paste: 1/2 tbsp plain flour
Enough cold water to form a thick paste
Filling: Shop bought Christmas mincemeat / mince pie filling Oil for frying
Method
In a bowl add melted ghee into the plain flour and rub the ghee into the flour well. Once combined add in luke warm water to form a dough. The dough should only be slightly soft as you want the dough to hold it's shape when making the samosas.
Allow the dough to rest for around 10 minutes. In the meantime mix together some cold water and plain flour to make a thick paste. This will act as the glue to help seal the samosas.
Divide the dough into doughballs. Roll these out into 4 to 5 inch circles around 1 to 2mm in thickness. Once you have your circle cut these in half to make a semi circle. Taking one semi circle at a time fold the ends inwards overlapping one end over the other. Before overlapping apply some of the paste on the top of the bottom fold and place the other side on top.
Open the middle and hold it in your the hand gently and you should have a cone. Fill the cone with a little bit of the mincemeat filling. I used 1/2 tsp. Push the mixture down gently and apply some of the paste on the opening and seal this shut.
Pinch the ends with your fingers and fold the ends for a better seal. Allow the samosas to rest so the pastry hardens a little. In the mean time heat your oil for frying.
Once your oil is hot. Fry the samosas on a medium to low heat until they are lightly golden. Some of my samosas did leak some filling which ended up on the samosas. If this happens allow the samosas to drain in a seive as they will stick to kitchen paper.
To hide the sticky appearance I sprinkled some powdered sugar on top of the samosas which also gave it a lovely festive appearance.
From this recipe I made 10 mini samosas. These are the perfect cute little christmas treats to make and eat. They did remind me a little of an apple turnover. Definitely try this recipe out.
